Multivoltage Converter (MVC)

A Multivoltage Converter (MVC) basically consists of two parts, called the High Voltage Converter (HVC) and the Energy Supply Unit (EBU). They are used by placing them in the underbody of passenger wagons. Whichever of the UIC voltages is available, the HVC part regulates it and brings it to the voltage value required by the EBU converter. Thus, the operation of the EBU static converter is ensured. Also the operating voltages are shown at the bottom.

EBU static converters provide the energy needed in the wagon at the required values. When the EBU is used without the YVK part, the voltage of 1000V / 50Hz, which is the standard for wagon systems in Turkey, is used as the supply voltage of the EBU. This situation changes when used with the EBU. The DC and AC supplies are obtained independently of each other, and the visual information of the EBU’s operating status information for feeding different loads, especially for feeding air conditioning (HVAC) motors and batteries, can be easily monitored and controlled via the user interface (HMI) in the electrical cabinet in the vehicle.
